Born in Austin, Texas, Antwoine “TROY NōKA” Collins is a Grammy Award-winning Record Producer and Solo Triple-threat Artist, (Record Producer/Songwriter, Pianist, and Hip-Hop Recording Artist).
Troy demonstrates an affinity for fashion, art and music as a result of his well traveled and cultured childhood. His early Hip-Hop musical influences include: Lil Flip, Zro, Lil KeKe, ESG, Phat Pat, Big Moe, Pokey. After losing his father at age 4, Troy pays homage by carrying his fathers name as his own in his music career. At age 6, Troy moved to Europe, which is where his love for Pop music began. His musical influences continued to grow after moving to Georgia with Outkast, Tupac, and Notorious BIG, becoming his top 3 favorite artists. He started to create music while attending high school in Kansas. Troy became a self-taught music producer at the age of 15 years old, when he started producing his own beats on Sony Playstation’s MTV Music Generator. His desire to perform immediately followed as he saved money from working various jobs to host parties and perform at local recreation centers. While attending Kansas City Community College at 17, Troy decided to drop out to pursue his passion for music entirely.
Making the move to Los Angeles, CA, at age 18, NōKA read books on engineering and seeked out opportunities to study under engineers. This lead to an engineering gig with Chris Spilfogel from the Production Duo “The Underdogs”. After hearing one of NōKA’s tracks produced with close friend, Record Producer Brian Kennedy, he was asked to become part of The Underdogs production team. The new opportunity allowed Troy to grow as a producer and learn from experienced writers and producers in the industry which later led to meeting and working with major artists.
TROY NōKA since then has production credits on some of the biggest names in music such as: Frank Ocean, Miguel, Chris Brown, Ciara, Hip-Hop artists such as Dom Kennedy Tyga, and T. Mills, as well as those in the Pop World including Natasha Bedingfield, Cheryl Cole, Backstreet Boys and most recently, rising star Cody Simpson.
In addition to his creative talents, NōKA is also the President of his own Production Company “Wiz Up Entertainment” and Publishing Company “Wiz Up Publishing”.
Despite his success as a record producer, NōKA’s true aspiration was to be rap artist. Troy’s passion for music, art and fashion is presented through all of his work. His music reflects his own persona, striving to be a strong, driven, positive influence while sharing deep and vulnerable experiences to his listeners. NōKA’s sound stands out well beyond the norm, ranging from immersive electronic soundscapes to body banging bass-booming percussion and clipped synth arpeggios with contrapuntal strings, just to name a few.
